DRIVEN Newsletter Aug 4, 2020

Consider Your NEXT Normal!

In July, I proudly outed myself as a habits and practices fanatic, and revealed the handy “Goldie’s Habit Tracker”. Thanks to these micro-commitments, I am certain that I’m doing what I’ve discovered as necessary to reach my goals and aspirations. Have you investigated the tracker? Are you stimulated by the idea of a little self-competition? It could be the hook that keeps you on course to achieve what you deem most important to you. For me, it’s self-care. For DRIVEN’s clients, common themes are getting a promotion, managing anxiety, finding a new job, being a better spouse or parent, and eating more healthfully.

If you’re a more outwardly-competitive person, or realize that you need to be held accountable to your commitments, no shame! To best embed habits and practices, think in terms of “gym buddy”. Or in DRIVEN words, a “practice partner”. If this strikes a chord, just raise your hand by hitting “Reply” to this newsletter and I’ll help you start the ball rolling. I’ve successfully paired a few partners already, and I’m prepared to connect you with another motivated professional to help you soar toward your goals and aspirations (Hey— it could be an interesting networking opportunity, too!)

Looking ahead toward August’s devotion to Clarity (DRIVEN’s Word of the Year), I’ll submit for your consideration that sitting in our current uncertainty is clouding our collective vision and individual clarity. The best thing we can do for ourselves right now is change a few of the seemingly innocuous words we’re using in our everyday conversations. After all, as Judith E. Glaser would remind all of us, “Words Create Worlds”.

A phrase I’d recommend omitting from our small talk straight away is “Back to Normal”. It’s time to accept that we’re never going “back” to normal, but rather, we’re moving onto the “next” normal. To spell this out differently, I present to you the meaningful proverb, “One cannot step twice in the same river”. Much like the water that flows past a specific place, things are always changing! And during this unique time of crisis, that might be an understatement. Read this month’s DRIVEN blog article to learn more about the toxicity of these words, and how to best manage and thrive during this awkward time.

Additionally, be sure to read through this newsletter about all the exciting endeavors DRIVEN is involved with, which contribute to the “next normal” in our lives. Consider also attending DRIVEN's August 21st OfficeHours for a Sneak Peek Into Your Future Potential. It’s your opportunity for greater clarity, focus and fulfillment!

Cheers!
